Modern seed technologies key to boosting crop yields

Tehran - Gholamreza Golmohammadi, head of the Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization (AREEO), underscored the vital role of advanced seed technologies in improving agricultural productivity.
During a visit to the Seed and Plant Improvement Institute's research farm and the Shahid Motahari Research Station, Golmohammadi marked the beginning of the sugar beet planting season and emphasized the strategic importance of upgrading the country’s seed processing infrastructure.
“We visited a sugar beet seed cleaning facility today — a key component in the agricultural supply chain with a direct impact on yield improvement,” he said.
The deputy minister stressed the urgency of introducing state-of-the-art global technologies into Iran’s seed processing and treatment sectors.
“To enhance crop performance, we must integrate advanced processing and coating technologies into the seed production process, in close partnership with the private sector,” he said. “This shift, particularly in sugar beet cultivation, can significantly boost efficiency and output.”
